TRB and Associates is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Building Inspector and Building Inspector with a minimum of five years of experience for a Senior Building Inspector and two years of experience for a Building Inspector in residential, commercial, and industrial structures. Locations: Sonoma, CA | Various Northern California Regions Employment Type: Full-Time, Part-Time, Temporary, Contract Salary: $40.00 - $65.00 per hour Essential job duties and responsibilities of the role include: · Inspects industrial, commercial, and residential buildings during various stages of construction and remodeling to ensure compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. · Inspects existing buildings for change of use, occupancy, or compliance with applicable codes and ordinances. · Confers with architects, contractors, builders, and the general public in the field and office; explains and interprets requirements and restrictions. · Issues notices to comply to address violations; maintains inspection history. · Reviews building construction plans over the counter for compliance with various codes and regulations. · Coordinates inspection activities with other City departments and divisions as required. · Performs related duties as assigned. Knowledge of: · California building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, housing, energy, and green building and related codes · State and Federal laws and regulations applicable to construction. · Principles, materials, and methods used in building design and construction. · Legal procedures involved in building inspection. · Building construction techniques and methods. Ability to: · Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. · Interpret, apply, and explain construction-related codes, regulations, and policies. · Communicate building inspection requirements, policies, and decisions to the public in a courteous and effective manner. · Make accurate arithmetical computations. · Evaluate and recommend improvements to systems and procedures related to the building division. · Write clear and comprehensive field notes. · Climb ladders or crawl under floors as necessary to confirm compliance. Job Requirements: · Certification as an ICC Building Inspector. ICC Electrical Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Combination Inspector, Plans Examiner, or CASp Certification is desirable · An in-depth understanding of the California Building Standards Codes and related standards is essential · Must pass a background check and have a valid California License You can also send a resume and cover letter to TRB and Associates via email at [email protected].
